Fluency at manipulating algebraic expressions is an important skill, and while resources such as Index issues and Multiple manipulations require students to practise this, the resources also encourage students to reflect on how and when they should use these techniques.
Some resources, such as Which is bigger? and Comparing continued fractions, follow on from Thinking about Numbers, using algebra to look more closely at the structure that appears, and to generalise ideas.
Many of the skills focused on at this station may be familiar to students, but the resources also aim to develop an appreciation of why algebra is more than just finding an unknown.
