Why use this resource?

We are familiar with reflections (preserving the mirror line), rotations (preserving the centre-point and shape), translations (preserving shape and size) and enlargements (preserving shape and proportion) in 2-D and 3-D geometry, however there are other types of transformations.

This resource gives an example of what a shear or affine transformation looks like and why it may be useful to do. This resource is designed to be used collaboratively to explore the ideas found in it and the more general pervasive idea of Transformations.
