Latitude

The latitude of a point on the Earth is its angle from the equator, measured along a meridian. Latitudes are usually specified as something like \(30^\circ\,\text{N}\) or \(30^\circ\,\text{S}\) for locations in the northern and southern hemisphere respectively. Alternatively, they can be specified as \(30^\circ\) and \(-30^\circ\) respectively.
