This station gives students the opportunity to revisit familiar material from geometry, such as Pythagoras’s theorem and similarity, and should help them gain a sense of why geometric thinking can be very powerful.
Geometric thinking can often provide elegant and simple solutions and many of our resources at later stations offer geometric reasoning to solve complex problems. Resources such as A perfect fit and Spider and the fly (part 1) should encourage students to develop visualisation and deductive reasoning while In-betweens and What type of triangle? ask students to come up with multiple routes through a problem and reflect on what worked best.
